New Normal

6 months ago: Rudy proposed to me on top of the Citadel in Cap-Haitian. I said yes!

2 months ago: We were officially announced as husband and wife in front of the best support system that we could ever hope for.

2 months ago: We began renting our first home together.

2 months ago: My father went Home after being involved in a fatal motorcycle accident.

1 month ago: Rudy and I started officially working full-time with Praying Pelican Missions.

We have had quite a wild ride in our marriage so far. We often laugh out loud at the fact that we have only been married for two months. With everything that Rudy and I have already gone through, it feels like I’ve had his last name for a lifetime.

In this short time of marriage, we’ve experienced times of rejoicing, times of frustration, times of celebration and times of grief, all within days of each other. After struggling over answering the questions of why God does what He does, I’ve learned that I am simply incapable of understanding the ways of the Lord.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”

And now here we are, February 2016, still figuring out our new normal. It turns out, living with your best friend is really fun! We cook together. We sing together. We watch movies, play games, go to church, clean, and fellowship together. I’m liking this togetherness thing! Even more so, I’m liking that this togetherness thing is becoming more and more a part of our new normal.

Now as we venture into the working world together, we’ve decided to start a blog together! We are so excited to share our hearts with you. With this blog, we hope to deliver an accurate glimpse into our lives, with all of the victories and messiness that accompanies it. You can expect stories of haitian-american culture clashes, our hopes and vision for the future, and our ministry. This should be fun!
